Our Beautiful Black Headed & White Bellied Caique’s !
Our Gorgeous Black Headed & White Bellied Caique’s have been called the clown of the bird world for a good reason, the clown is a truly appropriate metaphor for this high energy, mischief maker. You haven’t seen playful until you have seen a Black Headed and White Bellied Caique. The White Bellied (Pionites Leucogastar) and Black Headed Caique’s (Pionites Melanocephala) are mainly found in Brazil, Northern Bolivia, Columbia, Guyana and Venezuela.
- All babies are Handled and Raised by Male and Females to be insured they can be handled by both male and female new owners.
- Our Caique’s defiantly do make great pets and make themselves very known to their owners. If you’re after a bird that is beautiful, intelligent, active and very entertaining a Black Headed or White Bellied Caique is the bird for you.
- As you can see our Black Headed and White Bellied Caique’s are a smaller Parrot therefore they are likely to live anywhere from 20-30 years old provided they are in a happy healthy environment.
- The Black Headed Caique’s and White Bellied Caique’s have very similar appearance’s, with a few obvious distinctions. They both are about 25cm long, and their colour composition is relatively simple.
DIETS & FEEDING:
Although the Caique’s are a medium sized bird, they do need a large environment. The birds will suffer confined to a small cage. As with our Caique’s they Thrive on a pellet based diet that is also supplemented with Fruit & Vegetables. Here at AMK Aviaries, our Caique’s get feed Mixed Fruit & Vegetables of a morning along with their Vetafarm Nutri Blend and their seed. Their water bowls are re-filled once/twice per day with our automatic watering system depending on the Heat. Its important to provide them with a sustainable amount of fruit and vegetables due to seed and nutri blend not containing all the correct amount of nutrients they need. Real Food is also good for their Mental Health.
As for what mixed Fruit and Vegetables we feed our Caique’s, it consists of:

- Grapes
- Kiwi Fruit
- Passion Fruit
- Paw paw
- Beans
- Capsicum
- Beetroot
- Corn Cobs
- Carrots
- Snow Peas
- Spinach
- Broccoli

They are lively little parrots that pack a lot of personality into a tiny bundle of feathers.
